New Delhi, February 11, 2009: Nikon India, the 100% subsidiary of the imaging industry leader - Nikon Corporation, strengthened its presence in India by opening its branch office in eastern part of Country (Kolkata). Nikon’s branch in the city will ensure an uninterrupted supply of products and its excellent service facilities in the eastern region of the country.
Located at 8 Major Arterial Road Ground Floor, Tower-C, DLF IT Park, New Town, Rajarha in Kolkata, the center will be headed by Mr. Chhiteshwar Mishra along with a team of dynamic and knowledgeable professionals and photography experts.
Talking about the company’s expansion plans, Nikon India Managing Director Mr Hidehiko Tanaka said, “India is a land of colours, festivities and picturesque locations. a photographers paradise. Since the launch of Nikon India in 2007 we have been focusing on reaching out to our discerning Indian consumers across the nation. Setting up our office in Kolkata is another step in this direction and with every step we come closer to achieving our mission of promoting the culture of photography in India.”

2008 saw Nikon India establish its branch office in Mumbai and now the Kolkata office establishment will be followed by another office in metropolitan in Southern India. Nikon established 5 new Authorized Service Centres in 2008, taking the total to 10 while 3 more are in the pipeline. The company has its own service facility located in Gurgaon, Mumbai & Kolkata. The Nikon service facility at Gurgaon has been developed with state of the art equipment on the lines of the facility in Japan.
Recently two flagship cameras have been launched by Nikon D90 and D3X.
