Service Advisory

NOTICE OF THE EXPIRATION OF THE APPLICABLE REPAIR SERVICE TO USERS OF THE NIKON D5000 DIGITAL SLR CAMERA (UPDATED)

Thank you for choosing Nikon for your photographic needs.

Since our release of the D5000 Service Advisory on 16 July 2009, Nikon has provided free repair service for affected cameras. However, as indicated in the notice released on 31 January 2018, this offer of free repair service will expire on 31 March 2018. Service to address this issue requested on or after 1 April 2018 will be handled in accordance with standard Nikon repair policies.

It has come to our attention that an electronic component related to power control in some Nikon D5000 digital SLR cameras does not meet factory specifications and may, in extremely rare cases, prevent the camera from turning on, thus preventing operation of the camera.

This announcement is to inform users of the D5000 that Nikon service facilities will repair cameras affected by this issue at no charge. For more information regarding this matter, please contact the respective Nikon Service Centre in your region.

Please see the following for details regarding the indications of this issue.

Indications

  • The camera cannot be operated when the power switch is on, even with a fully charged battery.
  • The camera cannot be operated with the AC Adapter EH-5a connected through the Power Connector EP-5 and the power switch on.

Nikon will continue to take all possible measures to prevent issues like this from occurring again in the future. Therefore, we hope that you will continue to choose Nikon for your photographic needs.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this matter may have caused you.
