I AM MY NIKKOR – Vision of Great photography Across the Region

Nikon’s latest campaign narrates the journey of image perfection and unique relationship between photographers and their lenses

New Delhi, October 22, 2015 – Nikon India, the 100% subsidiary of Nikon Corporation Tokyo, leader in imaging technology, announced today the launch of I AM MY NIKKOR, a platform that weaves together a tapestry of narratives as shared by renowned photographers from Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. Developed as an initiative to bring together a diverse range of photographers to discuss their unique relationships with their lenses, I AM MY NIKKOR presents the different perspectives on how remarkable lens technology can shape inspiring photography experiences. Enabling photographers to provide a view of the different and beautiful localities of various countries, this campaign also dives into NIKKOR’s extensive arsenal of lenses, highlighting both newly introduced and signature lenses that the photography community has come to love and enjoy.

The ‘I AM MY NIKKOR’ campaign provides a unique platform to photographers to share their NIKKOR experience and connect with other visual story tellers to inspire a wide community of enthusiasts and foster a culture of photography.”

I AM MY NIKKOR curates an initial selection of stories from over 11 featured Nikon photographers, painting a picture of each artist and his or her intimate, personal connection to the lens. Accompanying each story is a selection of images the photographer has captured with the lens, showcasing the photographer’s work alongside a personal interpretation of the culture of photography.  The audience can look forward to an array of tips on image creation techniques, stemming from informative videos and photographers’ anecdotes of on-the-ground experience to help them maximise their potential with NIKKOR lenses.

The website also features the newest addition to the diverse and extensive NIKKOR line-up, the AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR, which will be among the first lenses to be highlighted on the website. Set in the majestic deserts of Jordan, the lens and its cutting-edge optical innovation captures incredible details of the intricate stronghold of Petra and the imposing aura of the desert. Visitors to the website will be able to experience up close in high-resolution as they learn more about this remarkable lens, alongside other NIKKOR lenses, as each photographer shares a story meticulously entwined into the details of their intended shots. The featured collection is also accompanied by exclusive behind-the-scenes videos and interviews, offering an exclusive peek into the storytelling process of some of the world’s best photographers. 

Visitors of the website will also find themselves enthralled by the myriad of destinations from all across the world as they discover more stories from behind the lens. From the iconic Paris, to the culture-rich Chiang Mai, the featured photographers share and present the colours of the local life and destination in each shot with their respective NIKKOR lens of choice.

Nikon users from the region will be encouraged to pay tribute to their world around them through photography, as I AM MY NIKKOR becomes a source of inspiration for the ever-growing community of visual storytelling enthusiasts.  Future developments in the pipeline for the platform include opportunities for users to share their photos and NIKKOR experiences. I AM MY NIKKOR is set to expand with more NIKKOR lenses to further encourage the creation of brilliant and awe-inspiring images with the ever-growing community of photographers.

The NIKKOR name arose from adding "r", a common practice in the naming of photographic lenses at the time the name was established, to "Nikko", the Romanized abbreviation for Nippon Kogaku K.K., the original name used when the company was established.
