Achieve beautiful, soft and gentle bokeh with no visible colour bleed and minimal fringing even around the edges of the frame through the use of ED lens elements which suppresses chromatic aberration, while an aspherical lens element compensates for curvature of field from infinity to close-up, keeping details sharp even at the edges of the frame. A layer of Nano Crystal Coat and ARNEO Coat are added to effectively reduce flare and ghosting caused by backlighting.

The NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S also adopts a multi-focus system with a new auto-focus (AF) drive system for increased optical performance which enables fast and accurate focusing, even with close-up shooting, allowing users to enjoy a stress-free shooting experience.

The large maximum aperture of the NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S allows users to dramatically emphasise the primary subject with a shallow depth of field, creating a large and smooth background bokeh while keeping the main subject in sharp focus. 

Outstanding Vibration Reduction (VR)[1] performance that compensates up to 4.5-stops enable users the option to shoot at a slower shutter speed while reducing camera shakes during low-light conditions. Combined with the in-camera body 5-axis image stabilisation system on selected camera models[2], it allows user to shoot in a broad range of situations, from up-close stills to video recording.

With the introduction of the focus limit switch, it allows users to limit the AF search range between 0.29m to 0.5m for precise and faster image focusing when shooting close-up.
